#16 - Don’t Forget Your Receipt

To the cashier’s question, Do you want a receipt? I silently respond, why wouldn’t I want a receipt?
And since it seems like they want to keep the receipts, in some supermarket cave, I tend to almost always request it.
What do you purchase with consistency, regularity from the supermercado?
What do you buy once in a blue’s moon?
Do you really want the receipt? Do you really want to see what you gave away and what you got?
At some point at a former job, I sought the advice of a union rep. I remember saying something like, I sent it via email, or I have it in my email.
She quickly responded:
The E in “email” is for evidence.
At first, I thought she was being a bit dramatic, but her message was clear. Once something is sent, that something becomes a record.
If you did not want it recorded, then do not send it.
If you did not want it recorded, then do not tape it.
If you did not want it recorded, then do not share it.
And if you have, like myself, already sent it, already recorded it, already shared it…
What did that record say about you? What did you give away?
What did that record say about me? What did I give away?
