Shop Script. Shop Small. Shop Us & No. 45
Dear friends and family,
We’ll have a journal to you soon, but today, please see a poem as No. 45 below. Two main things to share for now:
The Script Shop is open! With:
candles to light the way.
poetry to guide your path.
aprons made by hand.
shea cream 4 the soul.
foot soaks 4 the land...
I am also thankful to announce my participation in The Laundromat Project’s Create Change program this year! I look forward to this space of learning, growing, creating art in and with community. I send so much gratitude to the core of community that helped to make this happen. The 2025 Create Change cohort will be guided by The LP’s 2025 theme of ‘Black Quantum Futurism', which will center liberation, imagination, and the radical possibilities of building solidarity in communities. Learn more about The LP Create Change artists here!

Text within this block will maintain its original spacing when publishedI fit in.so many dips of my baby’s body.I fit in.step lightly. How were we tuned. Someone, invariablywould choose to opt out.step lightly. How did we shift.I’ve kissed so many tips of my baby’s body.In stepping lightly, did I then admit to guilt? At having fallen first gently, and then fallen first hard. Or, was I, like mostuncertain exploring, unsteadyimploring, unfamiliar. How did we shift. How frond, fond were we.I remember, secondly, clothesadorned loosely, undressed just as easy. How learned did we become.I’d askmyself why, oh why.I fit in baby’s palm.Neatly, succinctly, and then just over.We have in many waysbecome for each other.Supreme and simple, arcane and inornate. And then just under.
Why, Back of Book? or…BOBs 😏
The name "Back of Book Scripts" holds personal significance. It's a combination of a college professor's advice to put useful information in one’s “back-pocket,” as well as my mother's (and now my own) habit of jotting down numbers, notes and all the things on the backs of envelopes, books, etc. These scribbles of import, or SOI for short, contain so many ranges of helpful notes and things to remember.
These scripts are a chronicle of community & relationship, and how we show up in the world. They touch on various topics, experiences, day-to-day and literary notes.
This is a list of scripts of the inspiring sort.
With love,
Nzingha
