This is what they said.
first, music.
I do not know at this point what the outcome of the 2024 U.S. election will be as by the time you get this, things may have gone in this or that direction.

But, a note to self here: don’t sleep.

At some point in the campaign of VP Harris, I wanted or chose to believe that a white male majority could see a Black woman as the leader/figurehead of the U.S. and in doing so I really did not truly consider what it might mean for Trump to be president, to become president.

This morning I also got a message from a friend, and she shared very honestly that she was quite anxious about the outcome and I realized even then…

I still thought, and kind of still think that Harris has it, maybe not quite in the bag, but in something. In all honesty I am not quite sure if even that outcome is certain.

Furthermore, while some of the bizarre, inhumane, and racist things Trump intends to do may not happen in a Harris presidency, a Harris presidency still could lead to as much damage, on a global scale.

So, today I share these words of community with so much gratitude for their contributions. Community is holding strong, understanding so much of the wit and wisdom of those that have walked a similar path before.

I also share a 12min lecture given by the late Jeffrey Ferguson, one of my professors from Amherst. This lecture was given at the advent of the Obama presidency and is still rather apt for this time.

It’s now about eleven p.m. on election night here in New York City. I am going to wake later in the night to see what’s going on with the numbers.

Peace be still,
